Abstract

This escalation policy is designed to support the unit coordinator to manage the resources to sustain the service when:

• Staffing levels/skill mix are not adequate for current workload - the Unit Coordinator has responsibility to reallocate staff across departments and sites as required to ensure safety
• Acuity of patients is causing concern
• When bed capacity is such that it will have the potential to impact on safe patient flow
